Do You Gamble?

Do you gamble? Now, I'm not condoning gambling at all. I am using it to illustrate a point.

Do you go to a gambling casino? If you do, then you know, don't you, that if you put the most amount required for that particular machine, you get a much bigger return?

Let's say the machine asked for five quarters. You only put in three. You won the jackpot of 5000 quarters! Well, you would have won the jackpot of 5000 quarters IF you would have put in five quarters. Since you only put in three, you get 600 quarters. Maaan, oh, man. That's only $150. If you'd only put in the other two quarters. Just think how rich you would be. $1,250. Man, oh, man. What you could've done with $1,250. Now, don't anyone think I'm saying gamble away all your money, because I'm not. It's just that statistics show that a very large percentage of the population gamble. If I want you to understand what I'm talking about, I need to use a metaphor a very large percentage of the population can identify with. For some, the following will work better.

Give the world the best you have, and the best will come back to you.

Somebody asks you to donate a cake for a cake walk. You just don't feel like it. You quick bake a plain chocolate cake and frost it with canned frosting. You find yourself free that night to go to the festivities and then you find yourself at the cake walk. Someone convinces you to go. You win the plain chocolate cake you baked. You get what you give.

Give the world the best you have, and the best will come back to you.

Someone asks you to donate some children's clothing. You take the stuff you never liked, which is a very normal situation. That's how you get rid of things. Then, your birthday comes around and the gifts that you get are plain and ordinary. You talk to someone else and the same person who gave you the plain and ordinary things, gave this person something fantastic on this person's birthday.

Give the world the best you have, and the best will come back to you.

Someone asks you to drive the kids to the park. You take the old car. That's normal. You don't want it to get all messy. The next day someone picks you up in their old car. It is more than a coincidence. Believe it.

Give the world the best you have, and the best will come back to you.

Start today. The minute somebody asks you to do something for them *and if you can* say "yes!" whole-heartedly and get to it. Give it your best. Don't hold back. Make a habit of doing this. If someone is planning a party, offer immediately to help, and do it with enthusiasm. Don't hold back. If someone asks you to help them move, get there early and work as long as you can. Watch as everything starts coming your way.

You don't have to gamble to take your cue from the slot machines. You just have to understand how the universe works. The more you give, the more you get.
